About the Event

AI job search tools are everywhere, and chances are you or someone you know is already using one. But most people have no idea what can go wrong. In this hands-on session, we'll look at what actually happens when you paste your resume into popular AI tools and trust the output. Using real (anonymized) examples, we'll walk through the most common mistakes these tools make, from inventing credentials you don't have to producing content that raises red flags with employers. You'll leave with a clear sense of what to watch out for and how to use AI in your job search without it backfiring. Attendees will come away with: The ability to spot common AI failures in resumes and cover letters, including fabricated skills, made-up metrics, and leftover AI artifacts An understanding of how employers are using AI and detection tools on their end A simple checklist for reviewing any AI-generated job search content before submitting it Confidence in knowing when AI helps and when it hurts in a job search

Speaker: Andrea Gerson spent 15+ years as a career coach and was the #1-rated resume writer in New York City on Yelp for eight years. She went on to develop RS Works, an AI-powered career development platform that has served 50,000+ jobseekers through partners including Year Up, Goodwill, and the City of Baltimore. She's led trainings for groups of 3,500+ career services managers and professionals through the U.S. Department of Labor, NCDA, and other national associations.
