About the Event
Global South Perspectives on Work, Power and Data Justice Artificial intelligence is transforming economies, workplaces and societies around the world. Yet the people whose labour, data and lived experiences underpin these technologies are often excluded from conversations about how AI should be designed, governed and deployed. This interactive London Data Week 2026 workshop brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, civil society organisations and members of the public to explore critical questions at the intersection of AI, labour and justice. Whose voices shape the future of AI? How can we ensure that the benefits of innovation are shared more equitably? What would fair and inclusive AI governance look like from Global South perspectives? Through dialogue, case studies and collective reflection, participants will examine the realities of digital labour and data work, challenge dominant narratives around technological progress, and identify practical pathways towards more accountable and rights-based AI systems. Join us online as we reimagine AI futures that centre dignity, participation and justice—ensuring that those most affected by technological change have a meaningful role in shaping it.
