About the Event

AI Ethical Futures Lab #6

For August, we will work with summer signal: what AI is changing in work, learning, culture, governance, and community trust across BC. Bring one question you want the room to make clearer.

AI Ethical Futures Lab is BC + AI's civic policy lab for public-interest AI. It is a monthly, laptops-open working room for people who want to move past vague ethics talk and do practical civic work together.

Each session starts with a plain-language prompt, then moves into structured discussion, shared notes, small groups, and human-edited synthesis. We look at how AI affects work, creativity, privacy, education, knowledge integrity, sovereignty, environmental cost, and everyday life in BC.

This is for builders, artists, educators, researchers, workers, students, policy-adjacent people, and community members living with AI's impacts. No philosophy degree or technical background is required. Bring curiosity, care, and a willingness to hold more than one truth at once.

What to bring

A laptop if you have one.

A question, example, article, policy thread, tool, or lived-experience concern.

An openness to disagree respectfully and make the work useful.

Outputs vary by session: reading paths, public-safe recaps, consultation notes, practical checklists, follow-up working groups, or better questions for the next room. Personal positions and unfinished strategy stay with the room unless people choose otherwise.

Hosted by BC + AI Ecosystem Association at Parker Street Studios.

RSVP on Luma to hold a seat.

About BC + AI Ecosystem Association

BC + AI is the province-wide layer: a community-driven, nonprofit industry association built to create public-interest infrastructure for AI in British Columbia.

Not a corporate lobby. Not a think tank. A commons where meetups turn into working groups, prototypes turn into shared tools, and community values turn into governance.
